Snow and Ice Melting System (SIMS)
SIMS allows power savings of up to 70% compared to traditional heating rod solutions.

Did you know that Deutsche Bahn is the largest consumer of electricity in this country? DB runs roughly 70,000 switches on their route network and around 40,000 of them are electrically heated. The switches must remain snow-free and ice-free for error-free operation in winter. For that, IFF has developed the switch heating system SIMS (Snow and Ice Melting System), which generates all the energy inside the rail. This completely new heating method makes it possible to halve the power consumption per switch compared to heating rods.
