We help you with the successful use of adhesive technology.
Decisive for the successful use of adhesive technology is finding the right adhesive for the application. This results in a maximum robust adhesion process, because daily fluctuations (ambient temperature, humidity) can be buffered away easily. A reliable choice of adhesive is based on the most exact possible description of the application in the form of a specification. The IFF GmbH supports the customer in the preparation of these specifications by asking the right questions if necessary supplemented by a tabular form, which the customer should fill with the adhesive technology relevant information.
On the basis of this application description, IFF GmbH uses its expert knowledge and long-term contact with the adhesive manufacturers and searches for the most suitable adhesives for its customers. For these products patterns are required.
If the customer so requests, IFF qualifies these adhesives for the desired application. This is done by manufacturing and mechanical testing of small parts glued to standard. The test result obtained is the breaking strength of the bond and the adhesive-specific fracture pattern. By varying certain adhesive parameters (surface condition, adhesive geometry, curing conditions), the adhesives found can be compared with each other and prioritized for the application so that an adhesive recommendation can be given.
If the surface quality of the parts to be joined is insufficient, it is possible that the parts to be joined are pretreated at the IFF. In addition to the selection of wet-chemical pretreatments such as adhesion promoters or primers, the parts to be joined can be pretreated by means of atmospheric pressure plasma, corona and SACO (SAndblast COating).
Should an adhesive be found which is suitable for the application but has a too long cure time, the curing of the adhesive may be accelerated by induction heat. For this purpose, IFF GmbH has developed a special device called sample heating gripper, which can be used to quickly and easily find out whether and under what conditions an adhesive can be cured inductively or not.
